Your Guide To Plastic Molding

Plastics are synthetically produced non-metallic compounds. It can be molded into various forms and hardened for commercial use. Plastic molding products can be seen everywhere. Examples are jars, protective caps, plastic tubes, grips, toys, bottles, cases, accessories, kitchen utensils and a lot more.

Storage Toy Boxes

Even the keyboard and the mouse that you use are made through plastic molding. Even the plastic parts of the chair that you are sitting on are created this way.

Storage Toy Boxes

The basic idea in plastic molding is inserting molten liquid plastic into a ready shaped mold, for example the mold of a bottle. It will be then allowed to cool, then the mold will be removed to reveal the plastic bottle.

Plastic molding can also custom-mold a wide variety of plastic products including: garden pots, cabinets, office trays and boxes, barriers, barricades and traffic signage and displays for product and marketing promotions.

If you are planning to go into plastic molding business, you should first know the different processes. Choose from a plastic molding process that fits your budget, your expertise, and your resources. Here are basic definitions of various methods of plastic molding.

The Plastic Molding Processes:

1. Injection Molding

In Injection Molding, melted plastic is forced into a mold cavity. Once cooled, the mold can be removed. This plastic molding process is commonly used in mass-production or prototyping of a product. Injection molding machines were made in the 1930's. These can be used to mass produce toys, kitchen utensils, bottle caps, and cell phone stands to name a few.

2. Blow Molding

Blow molding is like injection molding except that hot liquid plastic pours out of a barrel vertically in a molten tube. The mold closes on it and forces it outward to conform to the inside shape of the mold. When it is cooled, the hollow part is formed. Examples of blow molding products are bottles, tubes and containers.

Equipments needed in setting-up a blow molding business are relatively higher than injection molding.

3. Compression Molding

In this type of plastic molding, a slug of hard plastic is pressed between two heated mold halves. Compression molding usually uses vertical presses instead of the horizontal presses used for injection and blow molding. The parts formed are then air-cooled. Prices of equipments used for compression molding are moderate.

4. Film Insert Molding

This plastic molding technique imbeds an image beneath the surface of a molded part. A material like film or fabric is inserted into a mold. Plastic is then injected.

5. Gas Assist Molding

Also called gas injection molding is used to create plastic parts with hollow interiors. Partial shot of plastic is then followed by high-pressure gas to fill the mold cavity with plastic.

6. Rotational Molding

Hollow molds packed with powdered plastic are secured to pipe-like spokes that extend from a central hub. The molds rotate on separate axes at once. The hub swings the whole mold to a closed furnace room causing the powder to melt and stick to the insides of the tools. As the molds turn slowly, the tools move into a cooling room. Here, sprayed water causes the plastic to harden into a hollow part. In this type of plastic molding, tooling costs are low and piece prices are high. Cycle time takes about 40-45 minutes.

7. Structural Foam Molding

Structural foam molding is a process of plastic molding usually used for parts that require thicker walls than standard injection molding. Inserting a small amount of nitrogen or chemical blow agent into the plastic material makes the walls thicker. Foaming happens as the melted plastic material enters the mold cavity. A thin plastic skin forms and solidifies in the mold wall. This type of plastic molding can be used with any thermoplastic that can be injection molded.

8. Thermoforming

In this plastic molding process, sheets of pre-extruded rigid plastics are horizontally heated and sucked down into hollow one-piece tools. When the hot plastic solidifies, its shape conforms to that of the mold.

Tooling costs are usually low and piece prices vary on the machinery.

Plastic molding is a very technical process. It needs experts in this type of manufacturing business for it to be competitive in the market. Therefore, a very scientific and systematic study should be first made before going into this endeavor.

Bedroom Design - How to Properly Arrange a Bedroom

It may seem simple to design a bedroom, but it can be quite complex. How you arrange your bedroom furniture can influence how well you sleep at night and how guests feel when they stay with you. Learning how to properly arrange a bedroom can benefit you when arranging a child's room, a guest room and a master bedroom.

Storage Toy Boxes

It's always a good idea to arrange your bedroom periodically. Sometimes it is not easy to rearrange, especially if you have a small room but rearranging will give you a chance to really clean every corner of that room.

Storage Toy Boxes

Guest Room
If you have guests to stay over frequently they will appreciate the effort that you put forth in order to make them feel safe and comfortable. There is nothing that makes a guest leave faster than if they cannot feel comfortable. When you prepare your guest room you want to keep it bright and clean looking. Don't clutter the room in extra stuff you just don't know where else to put it. Guests do not always show up when scheduled. A lot of times it is done last minute. Keeping the room bright and cheerful looking will always be inviting to your guests. Arrange the bed against the wall so when your guests walk into the room the bed will be the first thing they see. But you want to avoid putting the bed under windows in the winter time. If you have a twin bed in your guest room you will only need one night stand. If you have a double to king sized bed you need to have a night stand on each side of the bed. The only thing you need on the table is a lamp and one alarm clock. The dresser should be somewhere else in the room away from the bed.

Child's Room
You don't want to put the bed under windows because a draft may come in and make your child sick so always keep the bed against the wall without windows. You need one night stand or table to place a lamp and an alarm clock beside of their bed. Shelves are very important in a child's room in order to keep their favorite toys. It's good to place shelves in every corner of their room when possible so you can display everything. If more than one child shares the room you need to invest in a divider for privacy, no matter what age they are. Include one toy chest for each child to keep their toys in. Get creative on storage containers to personalize them with your child's favorite action heroes or princess. You can buy white contact paper and cover boxes to put little things in. Your child can help you do that. Add blinds to the window for extra warmth and privacy

Master Bedroom
This room is probably the largest bedroom in your home. You want the bed to be the centerpiece in your bedroom. Put the bed against a solid wall if possible. You can place the other furniture in between windows or on short walls. Furniture like dressers, wardrobes and chairs balance the room when placed on short walls. If you have a lounge or sitting chair in your room you may want to place it in a corner as long as it is out of the walkway.

There is no reason to complicate the bedroom by adding things that are not necessary. Bedrooms should be a private place to get away from the world. Making your bedroom more personal will have a cozy and comfortable affect on you.

How to Make a Baby Boy - Tips to Conceive a Son

A surprising number of couples look for ways of influencing the sex of their child. Indeed, when asked, most would prefer a mixture of boys and girls rather than having children of just one sex.

Storage Toy Boxes

For those who already have daughters, many couples will look at how to make a baby boy and there are a number of simple steps you can take to tip the odds in your favor.

Storage Toy Boxes

Firstly, it is important to understand that a number of factors will influence which gender of sperm will reach the ovum first and fertilize it. It is not simply a case of both types of sperm being identical, other than for their gender and the "winner" being the one which just happens to get there first! Male and female sperm exhibit very different characteristics and and understanding of what these are can help you to make informed choices.

What we do prior to conception, the timing and method of intercourse and what we eat all determine which gender of child we conceive. Usually, we unknowingly tip the odds one way or another and usually this is not an issue. However, if you are wanting to know how to make a baby boy, information is key!

Male sperm are smaller and faster than female sperm. In addition, they do not survive very long compared to the more cumbersome, slower female sperm. male sperm thrives much better in an alkaline rather than acidic environment. Also, our diet is thought to influence the potential sex of our children.

So How Can This Help Us?

1. The Timing Of Intercourse

Knowing that sperm have a very limited lifespan means that the timing of intercourse is crucial. If you are hoping to make a baby boy, you should aim to have intercourse as year to ovulation as possible, and this is where ovulation prediction kits can prove to be very useful indeed. Having intercourse a couple of days before ovulation means that the male sperm will have perished by the time ovulation happens, leaving the longer lasting female sperm ready for fertilization. If you time intercourse to coincide with ovulation as far as possible, the fast male sperm will reach the egg first.

2. The Environment

Male sperm prefer an alkaline environment and it is known that the area around the cervix is alkaline and therefore more friendlier to male sperm. By having intercourse in positions which favor deep penetration, the male sperm are more likely to thrive.

3. Diet

Women who consume at least their recommended daily calorific intake are more likely to make a baby boy. Additionally, foods which are recommended for women wanting to conceive a son include red meats, eggs, raisins, mushrooms, beans and bread. Also, eating saltier foods seems to favor the conception of a boy.

DIY Food Hampers - Christmas Gifts Made With Love

For Christmas gifts that are original, thoughtful, inexpensive and guaranteed to be appreciated, you can't really go past a home-made food hamper. A couple of hours spent in the kitchen is far preferable to spending the same time pounding the packed pavements, and most things can be made in bulk which means you can churn out gifts for all your friends and family surprisingly quickly. It's possible to get very reasonably priced baskets, bowls and trugs from places like Ikea or your local hardware store; and many are available to buy online. Here, UKTV Food has pulled together a list of our favourite recipes, along with some tips on packing the perfect foody hamper.

Storage Toy Boxes

Chutneys, pickles and preserves

Storage Toy Boxes

Chutneys and pickles can be enjoyed with British cheeses, cold meats and home-made pork pies. They'll also make a classic match with a spicy Indian curry and rice; or as a dip with poppadums, samosas or onion bhajis. Preserves are most often found on the breakfast table and are a great way of making use of windfall fruit. It's best to use a heavy duty preserving pan if you have one, otherwise a heavy-based saucepan will do the trick. Remember to sterilise the jam jars with boiling water before securing with waxed discs and lids. Stored this way they can be kept for up to six months.

Cakes, biscuits and other sweets

The simplest way to wrap your home-made cakes and biscuits is in clear cellophane; and if you colour-theme the ribbons and cards to match the style of your hamper, cellophane goes with any look from traditional to contemporary.

Drinks

If you're going to include a bottle or two of wine in your hamper, make sure you separately pack some mulling spices. You can buy these ready-made or make them up yourself by bundling up mixes of cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, coriander and cardamom; the choice of spices is up to you. Include a hand-written recipe with the spices so the recipient knows how to use them. Recipes vary greatly around the world, but the basic idea is to steep the spices in the wine over a low heat for around 15 minutes or so (ensuring the wine never boils). You can give the wine a bit of a kick by adding some brandy; some recipes also call for orange peel or juice to be included.

Family hamper

For a hamper the whole family can enjoy, include a bottle of sparkling wine for mum and dad, and something non-alcoholic and fizzy for the kids. Pack it all up in a colourful plastic trug that can be used for toy storage.

Include things like:

Rhubarb chutney Preserved apples and pears in syrup Tomato ketchup Coconut ice Mini Christmas cakes Spiced cranberry and orange relish
The entertainer

Place the goodies onto a large shallow bowl or into a wine cooler and wrap in cellophane. Include:
Sophie Grigson's cheese biscuits Rachel Allen's almond brittles Marinated mixed olives Parmesan and rosemary wafers Jane Asher's last minute Christmas cake Limoncelllo
Foody treats

Great for friends who love to spend time in the kitchen. Put the goodies into a large serving bowl or place on a chopping board and wrap in a tablecloth.

Foody gifts include:

Chilli oil James Martin's biscotti Carrot jam Ainsley Harriott's onion marmalade Five spice salt Fig jam
Travellers' treats

If your friend is planning a holiday, include a guide book or travel diary in the hamper. If you're the lucky one who's been travelling, include some foody photos for inspiration.

Preserved lemons Latvian gingerbread cookies Dukkha Goong Goong's pickle Sicilian dressed olives Biscotti de mandorli Chocolate panforte
Traditional British

Pack the hamper into a wicker basket for a traditional feel, or bring it up to date in a colourful enamel bread bowl.

English ale mustard Delia Smith's orange marmalade Picalilli Mincemeat Nigel Slater's Christmas pudding Spiced quinces

How To Clean Up A Really Big Mess

Sometimes we find ourselves facing a big mess. A child's room, a garage or a closet that gives the impression it has recently experienced a particularly violent tornado. As we gaze at the toys, pieces of toys, books, dolls, clothes, sports equipment, trash etc. strewn about the space, we ask ourselves where do we start? That question stops most of us dead in our tracks. Actually, there is a definite place to begin, no matter what kind of mess you have.

Storage Toy Boxes

First, get a big trash bag.

Storage Toy Boxes

Second begin by picking up only one kind of item. For example in a child's room - begin by picking up all of one kind of toy (doll clothes, action figures, Legos etc.) Put all of that kind of item away where it belongs. If you have no place for it, put it all in one pile, a plastic bin or a big plastic bag. If you find objects damaged beyond repair - throw them away. If you come across trash while collecting any of the items - throw it away.

Move on to the next item and continue until all categories of items are put away or everything is sorted by type. If your space is limited you may have to put your sorted items in the hall, another room or in the case of the garage the driveway. You can also get one of those clear plastic over the door shoe holders and hang it on the door of the room you are working on. You put small items into these pockets and this will help prevent them from getting lost.

If you have no storage space for your sorted items you'll have to create some. Since you have already gone through the cleaning up process it should be easier to do.

This method works for closets, files, garages - really any space that has gotten messy and out of control. If your big mess is strictly files and papers purchase a large pack of inexpensive file folders. You can sort your paperwork into these manila files and store them temporarily in those paper file boxes.

More Than Just a Toy Chest

There are a number of reasons why you should consider investing in a quality wooden toy chest. While there are a number of inexpensive plastic toy boxes on the market, most lack the quality of a handmade wooden chest.

Storage Toy Boxes

Quality

Storage Toy Boxes

The vast superiority in quality is one of the top reasons to choose a wooden toy chest. While most plastic boxes are made of parts that snap together like a jigsaw puzzle, a wooden chest is made by a craftsman who understands the art of joining wood and who knows how hard kids can be on furniture. By using sturdy joining techniques like dovetailing and heavy-duty hinges on chest lids, the craftsmen create a piece that you can buy with confidence. Rest easy knowing that you have purchased a high quality piece of furniture. It will be able to withstand the demands that come with being a piece of furniture in a child's playroom.

Appearance

Not only will a handmade wooden chest last longer than a fabricated plastic one, but it will look much nicer as well. If you have chosen a particular decorating theme for your child's bedroom or playroom, then a beautiful wooden chest can be finished to match the rest of the woodwork or the other pieces of furniture in the room. If you want to tie a sense of sophistication in to your child's room and need a place where toys can be hidden to quickly turn their room into an elegant part of the house, then you'll certainly want to explore the options available to you in wooden toy chests.

Memories

A piece such as a custom or handmade wooden toy chest can quickly become an heirloom. If there was a toy chest that stands out as an integral part of your childhood, then think about how meaningful it would be if you were able to let your kids use that same chest. If there wasn't a box in your past, then consider introducing one into your family. One day you may be helping your grandkids clean up their toys into that very same box. This kind of scenario isn't even plausible with an inexpensive plastic toy box, but it is very much a realistic possibility if you choose to invest in the future memories of your family with a wooden toy chest.

It can be refinished

Wooden toy chests are versatile. They can be stripped, repainted, and refinished as many times as you would like. Whether handed down to a boy or girl, painted pink or blue, the box will always be structurally the same. Every child will be able to put their own unique stamp on it and will have their own memories of the times that the toy chest was theirs. Imagine sitting around years later, as younger generations play around the toy chest, and remembering with your siblings, cousins, and others all of the different faces that the box has had over the years.

Ten Ways To Save Money When You Have Children

The whole society is geared to getting people to spend money for their children. When was the last time you had to buy a child's meal just so that he could get that free toy, and end up finishing the meal yourself?

Storage Toy Boxes

Here's my ten ways to save money.

Storage Toy Boxes

1. Take them to parks instead of shopping malls. If they don't see the temptations, they don't want them. If they don't want them, no temper tantrums to deal with, no fighting with yourself over whether or not to spend the money to keep them quiet etc. Just avoid getting into potential trouble in the first place.

2. Watch DVDs instead of turning on the TV. You get to control what they watch. You don't have to worry about adult advertisements coming on at the wrong time. You don't have to worry about commercials telling them what they really need to get you to buy for them.

3. Borrow books from the library instead of buying them. How many times do you really want to read Piggywiggy goes to Space anyway ? Also saves you having to move to a bigger house because you have run out of storage space for the books.

4. Return you DVDs and library books on time !! Don't waste money on fines!

5. Kids don't really have to be in branded clothes. The in-house brands are perfectly acceptable. They outgrow them so quickly anyway.

6. For that matter, kids don't need new clothes all the time. Go to garage sales, learn to shop on e-bay, heck, accept hand-me-downs and be grateful. who knows, you can get some really good branded stuff for less than what you would pay for a new no-brand suit!

7. Get toys with multiple functions. I find blocks, legos or those things that allow kids to link things are great. That way, when they go through a train phase, a gun phase, a car phase, a castle phase, a sea creature phase, or whatever, they just build the toys they want !

8. Be creative ! Kids usually prefer the boxes that their presents came in anyway. Use old boxes, paper, egg cartons, whatever. Make toys with them. They play just as long with them as the train set you spent 0 on.

9. Don't use toys as bribes or rewards. Think of other things they like. Offer a trip to the zoo, bake a cake with them or something.

10. Put them to work. Mine aren't old enough to realize the difference between play and work so getting to mop the floor with a real wet mop is a real treat ! They've spent hours just with a little bucket and their own cloths wiping up things.

Underbed Storage Containers

Mudroom Madness

Is your mudroom, hallway, foyer or entry way making you mad?

Storage Toy Boxes

Do you constantly trip over everything on the floor?

Storage Toy Boxes

Is there no space to put anything?

Or has your clutter been like this so long that you just pass by and not really see what your guests see?

You may just spend minutes coming or going but this brief time can definitely set the tone for the start or end of your working day.

Nothing says welcome like entering into a space where you feel comfortable and can easily store your coat, shoes and outerwear items. Think about your home's entry and incorporate these ideas to help keep it in top shape and keep you sane:

1. Give each family member a space: limit the amount each person can keep there (number of shoes, bags, etc.). Locker-like cubbies, milk crates or laundry baskets are great and can work well depending on the space. Allow only items that are used frequently and for that season in this area. Have adjustable shelves and hooks to grow with your child. Think about what is reachable for your child when deciding where to hang hooks and put baskets. Square cubbies are great for kids' extra-curricular supplies and equipment; even shallow cubbies are helpful for stashing things away.

2. Have a place to sit to put on shoes. A bench with storage under the seat is a great multi-purpose item. A chest or toy box can make a great bench/storage option, too. Or tuck bins under a bench or chairs. This is a great place to keep sports equipment. Be diligent about keeping this seat clutter-free so you will always have a spot to quickly sit to lace up your shoes.

3.Provide enough hooks. Make sure that there is at least one hook per family member (an easy alternative to nagging kids to hang up coats). Strong hooks are also great to get book bags off the floor. Use big hooks for heavy coats and small ones for umbrellas and hats. Don't forget the family dog! Have a hook for his leash. Hooks can also be placed on the back of doors. Hooks are a great way to tap into unused storage space- the walls and doors. Make sure the kids' hooks are at their level and the adults can use the upper space.

4. Create a specific area for your pets. In one spot store leashes, waste bags, outside toys, treats, a cloth to wipe paws and winter paw protector or booties. Think about opting for bag holders that attach to the leash, collapsible water bowls and treat or ball bags that clip on your belt to save your pockets from an overflow of plastic bags and 'cookie' crumbs. Have reflective bands for you and your dog for nighttime outings-especially important in fall and winter as the days become shorter. You may also wish to consider a place to stash indoor toys on your way out.

5.Think up, way up. Build a custom cabinet up to the ceiling to maximize storage of out of season items higher up. If you are working with the closet you have, use labeled bins and boxes for seldom used or out of season items and store higher up. Consider adding an extra shelf above the existing ones. Could you double rod the closet - adults coats on the top - children's below. If you do not have a front closet, you must be particularly selective about what you keep in your entrance. Think seasonal - what do I really need right now? Keep things for this time of year and store the rest elsewhere in your house.

6. Watch out for wet items. Allow each family member to have only one pair of shoes out at a time on a boot rack. Once a pair is dry it should be put away. Wet mittens and hats can be hung by clothes pins on a line that runs vertically or horizontally--thread line through pins' spring, spacing them along the line, or use a pretty piece of 1 inch ribbon that they will easily clip to. Hang this mini clothesline close to a heat vent or heater. Again, once dry, these items should be stashed away.

7. Make a message centre. A bulletin board nearby, will help keep your family on schedule. Pin forms, invitations, practice schedules, and a calendar. This will help you remember to grab these items on the way out.

8. Check yourself out - add a mirror. Not only does it help make the space appear larger, it is convenient for you to give yourself a once-over before rushing out the door. It will help you catch turned up collars, food in teeth and hat-head. Get a mirror that has a small ledge for lipstick and a comb.

9. Give some careful thought to every item in the mudroom. Use waterproof paint and tile floors to deal with the moisture that will be coming in. Allow lots of natural light in and install ceiling light for nighttime entrances. If there is something there that doesn't serve a purpose, remove it. Space is at a premium in the mudroom, so make sure you have a rationale for all your choices.

It may be a little space, but a little time and thought can rid you of the aggravation and madness of your mudroom.

Choosing the Right Bead Organizer System

Before you decide on a bead organizer system you should give it some thought and come up with a plan. Jewelry makers who started with a system, then realized that it wasn't right for them have wasted a lot of money. You need to consider the size and quantity of beads you'll be using. If you are going to be mass-producing designs and buying multiple strands of each type of bead, you'll need a storage unit big enough to keep them all together. If you are going to make single copies of the designs you see in jewelry magazines, you'll only need to store a few leftover beads.

Storage Toy Boxes

How much space do you have?

Storage Toy Boxes

The amount of space you can dedicate to storage also has to be considered. If you work on your dining room table and need to pack everything up so you can eat every night, you should take a look at the rolling tackle box or suitcase type organizers. You can position them where you are working, then roll them in the corner when you need to use your worktable for other activities.

On the other hand, if you have a dedicated studio/workshop, you can think on a larger scale. Bookcases or adjustable shelves fastened directly to the wall are a couple of good ideas, as are kitchen countertops and/or worktables with your bead storage containers stacked along the back, against the wall.

Match the container to the bead size and quantity

Container options range from towers of cute little round plastic tubs to plastic fishing tackle boxes. The beauty of the tackle boxes are their flexibility and safety. Most come with removable dividers so you can make the spaces the size you need. They also close securely so that if they are dropped or knocked off the table, you won't have bead soup to re-sort.

Small parts organizer cabinets are another option that can be re-purposed. Some of them have all large or all small drawers, and some have a combination. The drawers are removable so you can take only what you need to your worktable without having to move the entire cabinet. They can be stacked on top of one another and fastened to the wall to keep them from turning over.

If you use smaller beads, you need smaller storage containers. Seed beads would be lost in either of the above options, but don't worry, there are numerous organizers aimed straight at the seed bead users. Whether you choose round tubes or the small flip top boxes that look like Tic-Tac containers is a personal preference. There are larger containers available that are specifically designed to hold the smaller containers, which keeps your bead collection neat and organized.

Before you buy anything, spend some time thinking about your needs, imagine how you want to use your workspace and don't forget to plan for the future. Looking at all of the options available to you before you make a decision will save you both money and frustration in the long run.
